From its humble beginnings as a 21-attendee “academic software” meeting in 1982 at UC Santa Cruz to the prestigious conference now known as UCTech, UCSB is thrilled to be the event’s 2019 host.
Formerly known as the University of California Computing Services Conference (UCCSC), UCTech annually brings between 500 and 700 IT professionals, including students and faculty, to our campus.
Theme
This year’s theme is “IT Uncorked - Unleashing the Potential of Our IT Ingenuity.” Much like an exceptional bottle of wine, when our IT talent, technology, and ideas come together, they create engaging, complementary experiences across the UC system. It represents how we tap into our potential to encourage innovation: leveraging scale for value and creating a working environment for creativity, research, educated risk-taking, and inspiration.
Colors
The logo shows the unification of the UC campuses through its colors: the UC’s yellow and blue.
Imagery
The “U” is the base of an uncorked bottle. The concept of “IT Uncorked” is emulated by circuit boards being released through the top of the bottle, evoking movement, innovation, technology, and unity.
Also, a big thank you to Monica Pessino at the UCSB Marine Sciences Institute for the excellent logo design!
