Imagine your department or workflow is slowed down by functional silos, multiple hand-offs, unacceptable delays and backlogs. Or that you are working on a process that is mission critical to the success of your department but needs continuous manual tinkering.
Now let’s raise the stakes: You’re in the midst of multiple ERP projects, and you don’t want to carry bad processes into new systems.
Enter the Lean Bench, a “go team” of process improvement experts made up of your trusted colleagues, who’ll swoop in and make your current processes visible and work with you to propose a more streamlined solution.
The “lean” comes from Lean Six Sigma (LSS), a process improvement methodology built on reducing waste and improving efficiency. The “bench” refers to a roster of staff members who have earned high-level LSS certifications.
Put it all together and you’ve got a team of 12 process improvement experts who will be deployed to take a data-driven approach to improving the University's core business processes. With input from subject matter experts from central offices and academic departments across campus, the program's focus is optimization of core business and administrative practices as well as delivery of new systems that will effectively meet the needs of our growing university and reshape the way we do business!
In this workshop, we’ll describe:
1. The driving factors leading to the creation of the Lean Bench program
2. Year 1 results, which included mapping out 195 key business processes, evaluating more than 75 processes, and projecting thousands of hours of savings
3. Case study of Lean Bench influencing process owners and subject matter experts to review and streamline operations in advance implementing a new Enterprise Research Administration system
No prior experience is needed. This session is intended for people with a passion for improving the way we work!
